Another legend again but this time tells of Sister Ughetta, the cook of a poor convent, who decided to join the few remaining ingredients in the monastery kitchen to give her fellow sisters a a little ‘happier’ Christmas.
She took the bread dough and added eggs and sugar. In a shelf she found a little of candied fruits and raisins. To bless the Christmas bread she drew over a cross with a knife. The nuns were enthusiastic about the surprise and soon the news spread all over Milan.
I cittadini cominciarono così a fare offerte al convento (che non fu più povero) per portare a casa un po’ di quel pane speciale.
