Another legend again but this time tells of Sister Ughetta, the cook of a poor convent, who decided to join the few remaining ingredients in the monastery kitchen to give her fellow sisters a a little ‘happier’ Christmas.
She took the bread dough and added eggs and sugar. In a shelf she found a little of candied fruits and raisins. To bless the Christmas bread she drew over a cross with a knife. The nuns were enthusiastic about the surprise and soon the news spread all over Milan.
So the citizens began to give offerings to the convent (that was not poor anymore) to bring home a little bit of that special bread.
